I am feeling behind. I have not posted Monday's fun day, although we had SO much fun ALL day! I will do that tomorrow... for today, Tuesday, our
15th day of summer fun, we read Stone Soup!
We read this great book, and then, yes, we made Stone Soup. It was good too, ask my neighbor!
First we had to pick out the perfect stones to put in the soup!
(I am not about stealing other people's river stones, but I didn't want stones with too many crevices, that could be gross! I will put them back tomorrow and the owners of those stones will never know they were in our soup!)Then the cooking began...
You have to remember to add the "broth", stones, carrots...
and the onions and celery.
Cook until potatoes are tender, and eat!
Don't eat the stone! That wouldn't be good...
It was so tasty. You can't knock it until you try it...
The book is so good. You should read it...
The twins thought it was AMAZING eating soup with a rock in it!
4 love notes:
interesting. does the stone change the soup at all? did you research this or just throw them in and see?
One of my favorite books of all time!!! I had a teacher in 1st grade that had a wooden "Stone Soup set" it was so cute and we would always act out the book after she read it!
Wow, memories! I remember reading that book and then making Stone soup when I was in elementary. I remember I thought it was really yummy! I'll have to check it out at the library again and make some for Jeff and Aliyah!
I swear they will remember this experience FOREVER!
