The Old Oaken Table

or The Oregon Trail...

Tyson signed a contract.
He signed this contract on a table that I made, that our kids usually make pretend dinners on.

We are comparing this table to the old oaken table in Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence was signed.
Because it is JUST as significant.
(Ok, so I am being a little dramatic!)

SO the Declaration of Independence was an amazing document that showed the Mother Country that we no longer would be ruled by her...

Our document Tyson signed, said I will be FULL FLEDGED FOOT SURGEON.

IN SALEM, OREGON.

Yes, folks we are making the trek.
To Salem, Oregon.
Or as we are so lovingly calling it ...
The Oregon Trail.

We are really excited and also scared. We have NEVER lived in weather like the weather in the Pacific Northwest. We don't really know what we are getting ourselves into, but the deal was to good to pass up.

Tyson is working for this amazing doctor as an associate for 6 months, and then we will buy the practice from him.
Here is the office:

Besides the great business offer, who can pass up houses like these two that are for sale:

House one is on a hill, with a gorgeous view, amazing backyard, that is possibly a gardener's dream.. which just happens to be a dream of mine, to become a master gardener..
Please remember we went to Oregon in the winter... I bet right now it is looking might green and lush!)
(I love that it has moss instead of grass in the front yard. I love the vines, I love the side courtyard...)

This is the backyard. It shows the deck, the hidden garage, the garden, the grass...
This is the lawn before the garden, and part of the side yard...

Oh and these are the houses directly across the street and to the left and right of this house...
This house would make any California resident pick up and move...home prices there are insane!
I am loving this dreaming I can do at what house we can actually afford!

Or there is this one...
So amazing, and right across the street from the elementary school.
Original hardwood floors, built in 1930, 1 family for all those years, amazing backyard, and a great price!

I am very much in love with this backyard which is half brick (for bike riding), grass for playing, and an apple tree, and this amazing rock fireplace!
This house also has all new plumbing, electricity, 2 ovens, all the appliances come with it, 4 bedrooms, glass doorknobs... I think I am calling today to see if he will let us rent it before we decide to buy...

Anyways, we are excited, and we have lived in apartments for almost 10 years, and it is time! Time to settle somewhere, get our kids enrolled in a great school and settle in to a home.

So see ya Southern California. See ya sun. We will definitely miss you!
But we are headed to the Great Pacific Northwest.
To the trees, the rain, the birkenstocks, the gas pumpers, and the tree huggers.

Lots more adventures to come! And a whole new world to explore and kid activities to find!
Come visit us whenever!

Waaaa, booo, sob, sniffle... but I'm so happy for you! It doesn't feel real to me and it probably won't until I knock on your door and some hideous person that isn't you answers the door and I run home crying.
