When Dinosaurs Came with Everything

Cute cute book.

We went down close to my in-laws house in Laguna Hills to the most beautiful park. It was so well planned... which was probably partly my father-in-law's doing. He is on the City Council.

Anyways, it was gorgeous and fun, and I felt like Fall was right around the corner! Today was a gorgeous day.

There were some crazy slides. I mean, Merrick shot out of it like a cannon ball.

Dinosaur tracks everywhere! Caves, tunnels, bridges and GLORIOUS shade! What a beautiful park!

We also got to spend our WHOLE ENTIRE morning with these cute girlies! We love when you come!

Michael Recycle

Such a cute book about a boy with a colander for a hat that swoops into a town and teaches the citizens to reduce, reuse, and recycle. He even has an evil nemesis, Litterbug Doug.

We Recylced! We talked about how we take things to the recycle center and they melt it down and reuse it. I think they got it! Handy Manny talks about recycling all the time.

Having fun and doing our part!

The Rain Came Down

I had something else planned today, but when my friend asked if I wanted to go to Wild Rivers for free, who could say no? I couldn't really find a book I liked about water, so it may be a stretch but we read this lovely book!

We had such a fun time. We clogged the lazy river with 7 kids and 3 adults! People could not get around us. It was so entertaining!

This was the only slide we went down. Yes, that is me and Merrick. It didn't look that fast but it was...

Now that was fun for everyone.

Ella

I love Bill Peet's art. His stories are a little wordy, but his artwork is amazing.

Monday was a great day... where to begin...

Remembered about the Elephant Walk (where they stop the circus train, let the elephants walk to the circus venue) around 11. Hoped in the car super fast. Drove down to where it was to take place at 12:30 pm.
Nothin.

Berkleigh had to pee. Obviously there was no bathroom in sight, so I had her squat. I see all my friends doing that in bushes with their boys. The only difference was this was a girl, we were up against a busy road, AND she had to poop not pee.

There was a big, big log. That took up some time, but still no train.

Everyone kept saying different times, and I knew there was a chance it would be late... but how late? So Kristy and I set a cap on how long we would stay. Around 3 we left, after we heard for the 80th time that the train was yet coming a little later.

I don't regret missing it! The kids were awesome, and when we got home we watched the footage from last years... What three year old needs more than that?

Thunder Cake

A fabulous book about a "babushka" that makes "Thunder Cake" with her granddaughter because she is scared of thunder. It is such a beautiful story, and has beautiful pictures!

We made Thunder Cake! (Which might have been a bad idea on my part to plan this the day after we got back. We had no food in our house... well no eggs at least.)

The RECIPE:

Cream together:

1 C Shortening, 1 3/4 C Sugar,

1 teaspoon Vanilla,

and 3 eggs separated (yolks blend in and white whip until still, then fold in)

Add 1 C of cold water and 1/3 C pureed tomato

In a separate bowl mix 2 1/2 C cake flour, 1/2 C dry cocoa, 1 1/2 t baking soda, 1 t salt
From July 10

Mix well, put in a greased 8x8 pan, bake for 40 minutes at 350 degrees!

There you have it!

Thunder Cake!

Parts

Such a great book!
It rhymes, its funny, and there are two more books that go along with it!
Check it out!

So, we involved Dr. Scott in this fun day! One Sunday (7/11) we looked at a bunch of x rays, counted bones, looked at screws Tyson put in ankles, and talked about our skeletons.

The Little Engine that Could

We love this book, and we love a free train ride. We have done this millions of times and it never gets old. Goathill Junction is the same place that does the Polar Express.

On our way to Lake Powell, we stopped here before heading out(July 17).

Most of the pictures were taken from my hip, because you aren't supposed to take pictures on the train. Oops.
