I had the urge...

My mom taught me to sew at an early age. I liked to spend the time with my mom, but I got bored of sewing. I think I was just young.
Well last night I had the urge to sew, so when I get that urge, I gotta go for it.
I went to the the fabric store, picked out a pattern, got the fabric and "notions" (don't I sound legit?), had to go back for the interfacing (who really needs this?) and then stayed up really late (1:30 am), cutting out the pattern, the fabric, and sewing.

I was really lucky that my urge came at an economical time of savings. All the patterns and fabric were half off! Do you know how much patterns and fabric cost? Wow!

Anyways, here is the finished product... just call me Vivien Westwood. :)

Finding her nose.
My favorite part! I love the little ball fringe and gathered material.

I can't help it... but I am really proud of my sewing abilities.

That dress is so cute!!! Where do you get your fabric around here? Some place other than Joanne's? I need to break out my sewing machine and find a cute pattern to make a blessing dress.

Let's keep the songs going....she's crafty, she gets around, she's crafty, she's always down :)

i didn't know you sew! A blessing dress ... now that is ambitious!

So super cute. I assume the interfacing worked out for you. You're story sounds like mine, I think my mom just assumed I was sewing challenged. She'd be so surprised to know that I had out my machine this week too. Now you'll have to help me and we can make the girls matching dresses. Oh, fun.

CUTE dress! She is seriously adorable! If you ever come to Utah, we have the CUTEST fabric store right by my house (not to rub anything in, but we can WALK there). Love the pattern. What pattern IS it??? Oh, I'm feeling inspired!

You really can sew! My mom hates anything to do with crafts, sewing, ect., but I love it. Unfortunately, I've taught myself most of what I know and that isn't much. If you want before you leave there is an awesome fabric store in Berkeley in the Rockridge area called "Poppy" fabric. They have great fabrics, trims and a back that's full of fun patterns. Now this is going to sound wierd, there was a comment from "April" about a fun fabric store out here in Utah and I have been looking for one, do you mind maybe asking her where that is? I am not sure where in Utah she is, but if it's somewhere in the valley I'd like to check it out. Sorry, to be wierd, but thanks.

I knew you were crafty but now I am seriously impressed. Way to go. I took 4 years of sewing in school and I still could not do that. (I can't sew anything!) Is there a matching outfit for Merrick in the future?

How fun! I want a girl someday so I can make her cute dresses. So far the only thing I have sewn for Turner was some Pajama pants. It looks adorable!

To cute!! I have had the urge too! I just made a dress for Delaney and a friend of mine!! I love the pattern, what one is it? Quilting stores have great fabric but kind of pricey~it's okay while they are still small. Great job~B looks like she is loving it--um um I'm loven it...not quite a song but a jingle, does that count?

Hey Jen!
Thanks for adding me to your blog roll. Now I just need to get Tif to add me to hers! The kids are too cute! The last pics I saw they were just newborns. Now you have to go for sewing the boys outfit. I think the blue paisley would be so cute in a little shirt with blue pants.

Thanks so much for getting that address for me and so fast! It's actually really close to my sister's house, so I think we'll do a cousin visit and check it out. Tell your friend thanks as well. Now I just need to perfect some of my sewing skills.
